Register a dog

Dogs must be registered from three months of age, or as soon as they come into your possession.

Please note that this page is for registering a new dog that is not already in the Council records.
If you have an existing dog, you need to renew your dog registration. You will need your existing animal reference number that is shown on your renewal notice.

Dangerous (Neutered)The class Dangerous is defined as:
Under the Dog Control Act 1996, Section 31 1 (a) (b) (c) Where the dog is proved aggressive through:
  • a) owner conviction
  • b) sworn evidence
  • c) owner admittance

Dangerous dogs must be neutered.
